Did you know that.... NO PLAN HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BY THE COUNTY to accommodate our football team during the next phase of construction at Tucker High School?

In case you have not heard, there won’t be a practice field on the Tucker High School property!  Furthermore,  there will be ONLY ONE POD to accommodate football equipment and the players’ equipment. We are also losing our laundry facilities, as well. In addition, Phase II construction will even impact Spring Football, summer workouts, and fall practices.

We need your help...Click More Information for Details1

This is where we ALL need each other’s help…We need everyone to participate in a letter-writing campaign to Mr. James Jackson, our principal, immediately. US Mail and hand-delivered are options, but we need to act very quickly.

In the interest of time, please e-mail your letter to james_p_jackson@fc.dekalb.k12.ga.us.

Here are a couple of suggestions, or tips for the letter:

·         Acknowledge that the completion of Phase 1 is a “good thing” and renews our focus on academics and learning at Tucker High

·         State your concerns or issues with the lack of a plan, or a good plan, to support our award-winning, Championship football/cheer program and the 150 or young men and women that are committed to the program.

·         Reinforce that the program has sacrificed and made do for the last 2 years during construction and it doesn’t seem right that the program has to undergo a third year of even more sacrifice and hardship.

·         Point out that these are student-athletes first and we are concerned that no plan or a poor plan could negatively impact their ability to excel in the classroom, as well as on the field.

·         Last thing, we would encourage you to close your letter by thanking Mr. Jackson for his outstanding dedication and commitment to our students

We encourage you to “own your letter” and make sure you are putting these thoughts in your own words. Mr. Jackson is pushing hard to get a plan in place, but we need to help “make some noise” to let the powers-to-be know that the Community is involved as well.

Thanks in advance for everything you do and will do to help get things done.
